Dubai Air Show Tejas Crash: HAL Extends Full Support to Investigation, Says No Disruption to Deliveries
India's largest defence manufacturer, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), has released an official statement following the crash of its indigenous fighter jet, Tejas, during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show. The incident, which occurred during a high-speed manoeuvre, raised concerns about the aircraft's safety and its impact on HAL's operations.
In its statement, HAL clarified that the Dubai accident was an "isolated occurrence arising out of exceptional circumstances." The company emphasised that the event would not affect its ongoing or future commitments, stating:

"We would like to bring to your attention that the recent incident during the aerial display at the Dubai Air Show is an isolated occurrence arising out of exceptional circumstances. We would like to assure that there is no impact on the Company's business operations, financial performance or its future deliveries. The Company is extending its full support and cooperation to the agencies conducting the investigation. The Company will continue to keep the stakeholders informed of any material developments."
The Tejas fighter jet-India's homegrown, multi-role Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-crashed during its demonstration at the international event, prompting a probe by both Indian and UAE authorities. The pilot safely ejected, and no casualties were reported.
This marks the second major crash involving an HAL-manufactured Tejas aircraft in the last 20 months. The previous incident occurred in March 2024, when a Tejas jet went down in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, shortly after participating in a tri-services exercise.
Despite the back-to-back incidents, HAL has reiterated confidence in its aircraft and operations. The company stressed that its production schedules, financial performance, and future deliveries-including those to the Indian Air Force-remain unaffected.
HAL's assurance comes as the Tejas programme continues to play a critical role in India's defence modernisation plan, with large-scale orders already placed for Tejas Mk1A variants.
