Cauvery Water Supply Disruptions In Several Parts Of Bengaluru Today - Affected Areas Listed

Residents of Bengaluru are currently facing a significant interruption in the Cauvery water supply due to maintenance work on a crucial pipeline. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board ( BWSSB) has embarked on a project to repair the 1800 mm diameter main water pipe that stretches from Hegganahalli to GKVK, marking the second phase of the 4th phase of their operations. This essential maintenance work is causing a temporary halt in the water supply across many areas of the city, starting from 5 am today until 5 am tomorrow, Thursday.

Rama Prasat Manohar, the Chairman of the Water Board, has issued a plea for cooperation from the public during this time of inconvenience. He assured that the efforts are aimed at ensuring a more reliable water supply system in the future. The disruption affects a wide swath of Bengaluru, including both residential and industrial zones. Areas such as R.R. Nagar, Ideal Homes, and Kenchenahalli, along with Kodipalya, Channasandra, and Kengeri, are among those experiencing a temporary cessation of water services.

Furthermore, communities in Nagadevanahalli, Mariyappanahalli, and Nagarbavi, as well as Mallathahalli and Kottigepalya, will find their taps dry. This interruption also extends to Herohalli, Hegganahalli, and Sunkadakatte, with Rajagopalanagar, Lakshmi Devinagar, and Laggere suffering the same fate. The industrial areas of Peenya, alongside T. Dasarahalli, HMT Layout, and Bagalgunte, are not spared, impacting both households and businesses alike.

The list continues with Abbigere, Batarayanapura, and Amruthahalli, besides Jakkur, Kempapura, and both the old and new sections of Yelahanka facing water shortages. Vidyaranyapura, along with Singapore and Jalahalli, and residential areas such as BEL Road, Muthiyalanagara, and J.P. Park, will also be affected. Subrahmanyanagara, Gayatrinagara, and J.C. Nagar, in addition to Kurubarahalli and Nandini Layout, are part of the extensive area experiencing disruptions.

Moreover, residents in Prakashnagar, Goraguntepalya, and Kamakshipalya, together with Basaveshvanagar, Shivanahalli, and Manjunathanagar, will face inconveniences. Shankaramatha, Mahalakshmipuram, Shankaranagar, and Kamalanagar, along with Vijayanagar, RPC Layout, Cholarpalya, and Hampinagar, are included in the list of affected localities. This widespread disruption concludes with Agrahara Dasarahalli and Rajajinagar 6th Block, where water supply will remain halted until Thursday morning.

This temporary disruption underscores the importance of timely maintenance and upgrades to the city’s water supply infrastructure. It serves as a reminder for residents to prepare for such eventualities and for authorities to minimize inconvenience through efficient planning and communication. The cooperation of the public during these critical maintenance activities is crucial for ensuring a stable and reliable water supply in the long term.
