Hyderabad Water Supply Disruption Today: Timings And Areas Affected
Starting from 6 a.m. on January 13, residents of Hyderabad will have to go without water for 24 hours. This disruption is due to critical repair work, as announced by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB). The need for this shutdown stems from the discovery of substantial leaks in a major pipeline, specifically a 1,500-mm diameter pumping main, part of the Manjira project's Phase-2, which is crucial for supplying drinking water to the city.
The HMWS&SB has disclosed that these repairs are essential for restoring the pipeline that has experienced significant damage. Consequently, several localities will not have access to drinking water during this period. Affected areas include Erragadda, Yousufguda, Borabanda, KPHB Colony, Moosapet, Nizampet, Hydernagar, Patancheru, Ramachandrapuram, Deepti Srinagar, Madinaguda, Miyapur, Hafizpet, Biramguda, Aminpur, and the Bollaram Industrial Zone. Residents of these areas are advised to prepare for the water cut by storing sufficient water beforehand.

Advisory for Residents During Water Supply Disruption
In light of the upcoming water supply disruption, the HMWS&SB is urging the citizens of Hyderabad to conserve water and ensure they have adequate storage to last through the period of the water cut. Adding to the city's woes, Hyderabad is grappling with a severe air pollution issue. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has skyrocketed to over 150, indicating the highest pollution levels recorded this season. This situation is exacerbated by dropping temperatures, which have reached as low as 8 degrees Celsius in some parts of the city.
As repair work on the damaged sections of the pipeline gets underway, the HMWS&SB assures that these efforts are crucial for the resumption of normal water supply services. The disruption, although an inconvenience, is necessary for addressing the leaks which have prompted this temporary shortfall in water supply.
The 24-hour water supply halt in Hyderabad is a measure taken to carry out indispensable repairs on a key water pipeline. Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to manage their water usage wisely during this time. Moreover, the city's air quality concerns underscore the environmental challenges Hyderabad faces alongside the water supply issues.
