BJP Leader Basangouda Yatnal Sparks Row With Crass Remark On Ranya Rao: 'Hid Gold Everywhere She Has...'

BJP leader Basangouda Patil Yatnal has caused controversy with an inappropriate remark about Ranya Rao, alleging that she "hid gold everywhere she has holes."

Ranya Rao was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on 3rd March upon her arrival at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport from Dubai. Authorities confiscated 14.2 kg of foreign-origin gold bars valued at ₹12.56 crore from her.

Yatnal asserted that he had gathered extensive information on those involved in the case, including ministers, and pledged to reveal the details during the forthcoming Assembly session.

"I have collected complete information about her connections, who assisted her in obtaining security clearance, and how the gold was smuggled. I will expose everything in the session. Those responsible must be held accountable-can we defend someone just because they are a central government employee?" he stated.

The BJP leader also highlighted failures by customs officials, stressing that appropriate action must be taken against them.

How Ranya Rao Evaded Security Checks

A police officer at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport recently disclosed that actress Ranya Rao was repeatedly granted VIP protocol at the request of her stepfather, senior IPS officer DGP K Ramachandra Rao, according to a report by Deccan Herald.

Investigators examining the case discovered that the actress had been making frequent trips to Dubai, which had drawn the attention of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

The agency had been monitoring her movements for some time and suspected her of employing a well-known smuggling method. Upon her most recent return from Dubai, authorities intercepted her at the airport and seized 12 foreign-origin gold bars from her possession.

According to the report, a head constable stationed at the airport, Basappa Billur alias Basavaraj, informed DRI officials in his statement that he had personally assisted Ranya in bypassing standard security checks.
