Bengaluru Weather Report: Pre-Monsoon Showers In March? Check Latest Forecast For Karnataka This Week

While February usually marks the subtle shift towards summer across India, Bengaluru residents are already sweltering under surprisingly hot conditions. Daytime temperatures have shot up to an unseasonal 33-34°C, fueling anxieties about an early and intense summer.

Bengaluru Weather Report: When Will It Rain? Check Latest Forecast For Karnataka

So, what's causing this heatwave?

Blame it on the lack of rain and cloud cover, coupled with the lingering effects of El Niño. Bengaluru has received a measly 0.8 mm of rain this year compared to its usual February average of 2.2 mm.

But there's good news on the horizon! The weakening El Niño promises early summer showers, bringing much-needed relief to the city. In fact, experts predict exceptional pre-monsoon rainfall, with some areas receiving 50-60 per cent more than usual. This could keep daytime temperatures at a manageable 33-34°C in March and April.

The recent dip in temperatures is another sign of hope. An anticyclone system has brought high clouds, blocking direct sunlight and triggering a cooling effect. This respite will last for a few days before temperatures rise again towards the end of February.

Weather forecast for this week

Expect a mostly dry week with shallow fog in the mornings. Maximum temperatures should stay around 32-33°C, while minimums will climb to 17-18°C by the weekend.

So, while Bengaluru experienced an early taste of summer heat, the promise of early monsoon rains paints a more optimistic picture for the season ahead. Fingers crossed for a cool and refreshing summer!
