Bengaluru Traffic Alert: Neeraj Chopra Classic to Disrupt Traffic on These Roads from 4 PM on June 5

The "Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025" javelin throw event is set to take place at Bengaluru's Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday, July 5. This event will feature international javelin throwers, including Neeraj Chopra. Approximately 15,000 to 16,000 people, including dignitaries, are expected to attend. To ensure smooth traffic flow, Bengaluru Traffic Police have made traffic arrangements around the stadium from 4 PM to 10 PM.

Goods vehicles will be restricted from using roads surrounding the stadium during this time. The public is encouraged to use metro services and other public transport options. Parking facilities for vehicles with passes are available at St. Joseph's College and UB City Mall (pay and park). Roads where parking is prohibited include KB Road, Vittal Mallya Road, RRM Road, KG Road, Devanga Road, NR Road, Nrupatunga Road, Seshadri Road, and Ambedkar Veedhi (both sides).

International Participation in Javelin Event

The event marks India's first international javelin throw competition approved by the Athletics Federation of India. It has generated significant interest as it will be held at Bengaluru's Sri Kanteerava Stadium with participation from 12 athletes. Notable participants include two-time world champion Anderson Peters from Grenada and Germany's Thomas Röhler, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist.

Other competitors include Julius Yego from Kenya, the 2015 world champion; Curtis Thompson from the USA; Japan’s Asian Games bronze medalist Genki Dean; Rumesha Pathiraja from Sri Lanka; and Luiz Mauricio da Silva from Brazil. From India, apart from Neeraj Chopra, Sachin Yadav who won a silver medal at the Asian Championships will compete alongside Kishore Jena, Rohit Yadav, and Sahil Silwal.

Traffic Diversions for Event Day

Alternative routes have been suggested for goods vehicles during the event hours. Vehicles heading towards Shantinagar via HL De Junction should turn right at HL De Junction towards Hadnan Junction and then left at Devang Junction onto Mission Road-Flyover-Residency Road. Those traveling from Richmond Junction towards Mysore Bank can take a right at Purnima Junction onto Shivaji Junction before turning left near Purabhavan onto Mysore Road or NR Junction-Police Station Junction-KG Road to reach Mysore Bank.

This international javelin throw competition is a first for India and has been sanctioned by the Athletics Federation of India. The event has sparked considerable excitement as it will feature top athletes competing in Bengaluru's prestigious venue.
