Bengaluru: Sandalwood Director Guruprasad Dies By Suicide, Body Found Hanging In Decomposed State
Renowned Kannada filmmaker Guruprasad, celebrated for his films 'Mata' and 'Eddelu Manjunatha', tragically took his own life just days before his 52nd birthday.
Born on 2 November 1972 in Ramanagara, he was a renowned figure in Kannada cinema, known for his distinct storytelling and direction, reported Asianet.

Guruprasad rose to fame with his directorial debut, 'Mata', released in 2006, which earned widespread acclaim and marked a strong beginning to his career.
He followed it with 'Eddelu Manjunatha' in 2009, a film that won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Screenplay and cemented his reputation in the industry.
His skill in conveying complex themes through satire, often touching on aspects of Jainism, resonated deeply with both audiences and critics.
His later works included 'Director's Special' (2013) and 'Eradane Sala' (2017). His latest film, 'Ranganayaka', completed in 2024, struggled at the box office, leading to serious financial challenges for the director.
The news of his passing shocked many, as his decomposed body was discovered in his apartment in Madanayakanahalli. Neighbours notified the police after noticing a foul odour emanating from his flat.
Upon investigation, authorities found Guruprasad hanging from a ceiling fan, suggesting he may have taken his life days earlier.
Initial reports indicate that financial stress, worsened by the recent failure of 'Ranganayaka', may have contributed to his tragic decision.
