Bengaluru Rain: City May Finally See Widespread Evening Thunderstorms After Week of Uneven Showers
While peripheral districts and southern outskirts witnessed moderate to heavy downpours on Sunday night, several parts of central and eastern Bengaluru were once again left staring at dry skies. However, weather observers tracking internal atmospheric charts now believe the city's frustrating spell of highly localised and uneven rainfall could finally ease from Tuesday evening onwards.
According to the latest weather outlook, multiple atmospheric parameters have started aligning across south interior Karnataka, setting up conditions for what could become Bengaluru's most widespread thunderstorm activity in more than a week.

Why Bengaluru's Rain Forecast Looks More Promising Today
Weather trackers said three major atmospheric developments are now working in Bengaluru's favour after nearly a week of inconsistent rain activity.
Low-level and mid-level atmospheric convergence zones have reportedly shifted back towards the Bengaluru region after remaining weak over the past few days. At the same time, humidity levels near the surface have increased significantly, creating favourable conditions for rapid thundercloud formation during the evening hours.
Forecasters also pointed out that strong daytime heating combined with rising moisture levels may trigger sharper convective activity later in the day, increasing the possibility of scattered thunderstorms across multiple parts of the city.
Current projections indicate light to moderate thunderstorm rainfall ranging between 5 mm and 60 mm across parts of Karnataka through Tuesday night.
Southern Bengaluru Belt Saw Better Rainfall Activity
While most of Bengaluru city missed widespread rain on Sunday night, southern outskirts and nearby taluks recorded much stronger activity.
According to rainfall data released by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), Thokasandra in Kanakapura taluk recorded 46.5 mm rainfall, while Maralebekuppe received 42 mm and Narayanapura recorded 37.5 mm.
Other nearby areas including Chakanahalli, Kodihalli, Arakere and Shivanahalli also witnessed moderate showers overnight.
Within Bengaluru Urban district, Begur recorded 21.6 mm rainfall, while Bannerghatta Road stretches and nearby southern pockets received light overnight showers.
In contrast, several eastern and central Bengaluru localities remained mostly dry despite massive cloud build-up around the city.
Heavy Rainfall Recorded Across Karnataka
Outside Bengaluru, some of the heaviest overnight rainfall was recorded in Mandya district's Krishnarajapet taluk, where Ballekere received 94 mm rainfall.
Strong rainfall activity was also recorded in Kalaburagi, where Tengali received 64.5 mm rainfall.
In Hassan district, Anekere recorded 64 mm rainfall while Gonisomanahalli received 50.5 mm.
Meanwhile, parts of Mysuru district including Kesthuru also saw moderate overnight showers.
Bengaluru Residents Asked to Prepare for Sudden Evening Downpours
With monsoon conditions gradually strengthening across south India, weather observers believe Bengaluru's uneven rainfall distribution may begin stabilising over the next 24 hours.
Residents, especially in areas that have remained dry over the past week, have been advised to prepare for sudden evening thunderstorms and brief intense downpours on Tuesday.
Civic authorities have also urged residents to clear local storm-water drains and avoid waterlogging-prone stretches during evening travel hours if rainfall activity intensifies later in the day.
