Bengaluru Implements Traffic Restrictions And Parking Bans For New Year 2025 Celebrations
As Bengaluru prepares to welcome the New Year 2025, the city authorities have announced specific traffic restrictions and parking bans to ensure public safety and smooth celebrations. These measures will be in effect from 8 PM on December 31, 2024, to 2 AM on January 1, 2025. This includes a complete prohibition of vehicle movement on vital stretches such as MG Road, from Anil Kumble Circle to Residency Road Junction, and Brigade Road, extending from Cauvery Emporium Junction to Appera Junction. Additional roads like Church Street, Museum Road, Rest House Road, and Residency Cross Road will also be off-limits to vehicular traffic.
In a bid to manage the heavy influx of people and maintain order, pedestrian pathways have been designated in areas like the Shivajinagar BMTC Shopping Complex and around Cubbon Park. The police have made it clear that on Brigade Road, from M.G. Road Junction to Opera Junction, pedestrians must follow the specified routes and directions to avoid chaos. Furthermore, vehicle owners are reminded to clear their vehicles from no-parking areas by 4:00 pm on December 31 to avoid penalties.

Ensuring Safety Through Stringent Measures
In light of previous incidents, the Bengaluru City Traffic Police are enforcing a zero-tolerance stance on driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Checkpoints will be operational throughout the night to identify and penalize violators, emphasizing the importance of responsible celebrations. Motorcyclists engaging in reckless driving or illegal racing activities will also face strict actions, as the authorities encourage the public to report any such behavior to the police helpline number 112.
Accommodating the expected crowd and ensuring a seamless celebration experience, the city's traffic management has also considered the implications on surrounding areas. Parking bans have been enforced on both sides of certain roads in Indiranagar, around ITPL Main Road, and other critical spots to reduce congestion. Notably, recent seizures of high-value drugs have necessitated the closure of certain flyovers, highlighting the extensive measures being taken to safeguard the community during these festivities.
