Beer Price Hike In Karnataka: All Brands See Prices Up by Rs 20
Beer lovers in Karnataka will have to shell out more as the price of beer has been increased by Rs 10 to Rs 20 per bottle. This marks the fifth price hike in the last 17 months. Just a month ago, beer prices were raised, and now, due to rising raw material costs, the price has gone up again. Since the Karnataka Government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah came to power, the price of beer has increased from Rs 50 to Rs 60.
Earlier, the state government imposed an additional duty of 20% on beer. Following this, beer companies raised prices by Rs 10 in February to offset production costs. Now, with the increase in raw material costs, beer prices have jumped again. Over the last 15 months, the cumulative increase in beer prices has been between Rs 50 and Rs 60.

Some companies implemented the new prices last Thursday, while others will see the revised rates effective from Tuesday and Wednesday. This hike affects all brands, with prices increasing by Rs 10 to Rs 20 per bottle.
The Congress government's tenure has seen a series of price hike across various sectors. Initially, the duty on liquor was raised, followed by an increase in the transport cess on commercial vehicles. Stamp duty rates were also increased, and the price of sowing seeds surged by 50-60%. Additionally, petrol and diesel prices saw a Rs 3 per litre increase, and the cost of Nandini milk rose by Rs 2 per litre.
