A 4-year-old girl, Gianna Ann Jito, who was undergoing treatment at Aster CMI Hospital in Hebbal after falling from her Delhi Pre-School in Chellikere, Kalyan Nagar, northeast Bengaluru, tragically succumbed to her injuries. Following a complaint lodged by the girl's father, Hennur Police have taken action by registering a First Information Report (FIR) against the school authorities, citing negligence.

4-Year-Old Girl Dies After Falling From Pre-School Terrace In Bengalurus Kalyan Nagar

Gianna, residing in the city with her Kerala-native parents who relocated to Bengaluru for employment in the tech industry, suffered the incident on January 22. The unfortunate fall occurred from the third floor of the Delhi Pre-school in Chellikere, resulting in severe injuries to her head and other parts of her body.

The school authorities informed the parents that Gienna hit her head on the wall while playing on Monday afternoon. Upon reaching the school, the parents found that their child had already been taken to the hospital. However, relatives claim that doctors believe the child's critical injuries are consistent with a fall from a height, suspected to be from the second-floor terrace.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the Hennur Police initially recorded a Non-Cognizable Offence (NCR), but a formal FIR was filed on Wednesday. The grieving parents alleged that the school officials initially attempted to conceal the incident by falsely claiming that the girl had hit a wall and lost consciousness. Subsequently, under police inquiry, the school authorities disclosed the accurate details of the incident.

Gianna, survived by her parents and a brother, passed away on January 25 after a four-day struggle for her life. The police will be releasing the body to the family following the post-mortem scheduled for Friday. The FIR against the school management includes charges under IPC sections pertaining to acts endangering human life and causing grievous harm due to negligence (IPC sections 336 and 338, respectively).
