JNU student attacks classmate, dies after suicide attempt

New Delhi: A Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student attacked his women classmate with an axe at the university campus on Wednesday and the accuse committed suicide after attacking the girl.

The victims identified as Akash (23) and Roshni (22), students from Korean literature department in the university and had an argument at around 11 am today in one of the rooms in the university campus.

According to the police, Akash tried to slit his own throat and consumed pesticide after attacking Roshni with an axe leaving several injuries on her body.

"Akash was taken to Safdarjung Hospital and Roshni was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). We recovered a country made pistol, a bottle of poisonous substance and an axe from the spot," a police officer said.
