Siddaramaiah discovers a new member in Gandhi family

Bangalore, May 8: Congress leader Siddaramaiah, while speaking to reporters following his victory in Varuna constituency, thanked three Gandhis for his victory. The first two were, as expected, Rahul Gandhi and

, but guess who the third was? It was the country's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, whom Siddaramaiah referred to as 'Manmohan Gandhi'.

The Congress's domestic culture is well-known in all circles, political or non-political, by this time but such goof-up by an important state politician who is likely to become its chief minister, is amazing. Is the party slowly inching towards a situation where all its members will have a 'Gandhi' surname? Siddaramaiah's reference to the PM in such a careless manner was simply an unacceptable act.

But who cares? As long as a party member utters the word Gandhi, it is absolutely perfect. The mood is good in the house, buddy, don't spoil it by raising non-issues. The PM is, as they say, is another beneficiary of the Gandhis. But don't listen to them. They are among the losers today.
