In Pics: Rahul Dravid, Sridevi receive Padma Awards

New Delhi, April 5: Former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid, actresses Sridevi and Sharmila Tagore were among the 54 persons who received the Padma Awards from President Pranab Mukherjee here on Friday.

The cricketer and Sharmila Tagore were presented the Padma Bhushan, the nation's third-highest civilian award, while Sridevi was given the Padma Shri at a ceremony held in the Rashtrapati Bhawan's Darbar Hall.

Sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra and researcher Yash Pal received the Padma Vibhushan, the nation's second-highest civilian award.

Vijay Kumar Saraswat, director of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and noted Telugu film producer Daggubati Ramanaidu received the Padma Bhushan as did Professor Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Hemendra Singh Panwar, Professor Ashoke Sen, Shivajirao Girdhar Patil, Ramamurthy Thyagarajan and Kanak Yatindra Rele.

The 42 people honoured with Padma Shri included Sudarshan Kumar Aggarwal, Gajam Anjaiah, Rajendra Achyut Badwe, Mohammad Sharfe Alam, GCD Bharti, Memendra Prasad Barooah, Ravindra Singh Bisht, Avnita Abbi, Taraprasad Das, Avinash Chander, Sanjay Govind Dhande, Trichur Viswanathan Devarajan, Noboru Karashima from Japan, Saroj Chooramani Gopal, Salik Lakhnawi (posthumous), Ram Krishan (posthumous) and Manju Bharat Ram (posthumous).

P Madhavan Nair, S Lakshminarayana 'Bapu', SKM Maeilanandhan, Kailash Chandra Meher, Neelima Chandrashekhar Mishra, Vandana Luthra, Sankar Kumar Pal, Rama Kant Shukla, C Venkata S Ram, Surender Sharma, Jaymala Jayram Shiledar, Pt Suresh Talwalkar, Rajendar Kumar Tiku, Mudundi Ramakrishna Raju, R Nageshwar Rao, Rajshree Pathy, Deepak Bhaskar Phatak, Brahmdeo Ram Pandit, Ajay Kumar Sood and Akhtarul Wasey also received the Padma Shri.
