Petrol price hike: Delhi government likely to cut tax

"We will see what we can do," said Dikshit on being asked whether the government will reduce VAT on petrol.
Dikshit, however, justified the government's stand on hiking the petrol prices saying that the hike was necessary owing to the huge losses suffered by oil companies.
Dikshit is currently on a visit to Jammu. Petrol prices were hiked by Rs 7.50 per litre effective from midnight of May 23.
Sources also reveal that the government may consider a partial rollback in petrol prices in the range of Rs 3-5.
