Tremor hits parts of West Bengal, Bihar

Kolkata, Mar 28: An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale has struck the parts of West Bengal, eastern parts of India and Bihar on Wednesday, Mar 28.

"The quake had its epicentre near the India-Nepal border at 26.1 degree north latitude and 87.8 degree east longitude. It had a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale," said Gopinath Raha, the North Bengal and Sikkim in-charge of the India Meteorological Department. While the people of Darjeeling, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur, Malda, Jalpaiguri districts and Kolkata felt the tremor at around 5:10 am on Wednesday.

No loss of life or property has been reported so far.
