Teleseries on life of Mahatma Gandhi to be telecast soon

Mumbai, Sep 12: A tele-series named 'Gandhi - a journey of Mahatma', based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi, will soon be telecast on Doordarshan.

The tele-serial will have over 300 episodes depicting the life of Mahatma Gandhi.

The script has been written by Rajendra Upadhayay, theatre activist who researched on the life of Mahatma for 15 years.

"Our serial starts before the birth of Gandhiji. It would show his family background, what his father was doing, Gandhiji's birth, his childhood. There are chapters on how he stealthily ate meat, smoked, took money from his father's wallet, his school days, his childhood marriage," Director Ashwini Sharma said.

The title song - 'Raghupati Ragav Raja Ram..' has been sung by Jagjith Singh.
