Shameful blot;1st IAF woman to be court-martialled ends life

Bhopal, Sept 12: In a record the Indian Air Force is not proud of, the first woman IAF officer to be court martialled, Anjali Gupta committed suicide in Bhopal. Gupta hanged herself to death at a relatives residence on Sunday.

The first woman to be court martialled in the history of the Indian Air Force, she was dismissed from service after being charged of insubordination and indiscipline. She was found guilty of seven other charges as well. She had also alleged that she was sexually harassed by her superiors.

A military court of the IAF in Bangalore had ordered her dismissal on Dec 8, 2005 after she was found guilty of the charges slapped in her name.
