Explosion in Nuclear plant rocks France, 1 killed, 3 injured

Paris, Sep 12: An explosion in a nuclear plant rocked France on Monday, Sep 12. Initial reports claimed that one person was dead and three were brutally injured.

The accident took place in Marcoule nuclear plant in southern France. Initially the French nuclear safety body and local authorities reported about the explosion and they also feared about radioactive leak.

Sources informed that French nuclear giant Areva mainly used the plant which was involved with the decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

BBC reports informed that the plant produces MOX fuel, which recycles plutonium from nuclear weapons, but does not include any reactors.

However, sources informed that a ecurity perimeter has been allocated around the plant.
