Married woman sedated and raped by doctor

New Delhi, Aug 16: A 20-year-old married woman was raped after she was sedated by a doctor in Nazafgarh southwest, New Delhi on Aug 14.

The accused, Devraj Verma sedated the woman after she went for a treatment to the doctor. The doctor has been arrested now.

"The woman lodged a complaint saying that she had been sedated and raped when she had gone for treatment. Medical examination confirmed the rape and a case was registered under the appropriate sections of the IPC. The accused was nabbed immediately," said a senior police officer.

The victim had gone to the doctor's clinic accompanied by her sister-in-law. On the pretext of examining the victim, the doctor took her inside, while her sister-in-law waited outside. She was then made to sniff something after which she lost consciousness and on regaining senses she realised that she was raped.

The doctor rubbished the allegation during confrontation and later pleaded guilty after they called police.

According to police sources, the doctor, who is an Ayurvedacharya has been into the business since many years in the main Nazafgarh market.
