Bangalore: Villagers kill 9 innocents in a fit of fury

Bangalore, Aug 3: In two separate incidents, nine travellers from Bangalore were killed by villagers who grew suspicious of their movements.

According to sources, the suspects came in a Tata Sumo to Muddalapalli and stopped by a woman to ask directions. While she was helping them, the five gang members snatched her jewellery after tying her up to a tree and escaped.

The victim somehow managed to raise an alarm following which the villagers chased the Sumo.

As the driver was unable to find the main road, the villagers pulled out five people out of the Sumo and attacked them with rods, killing one on the spot.

As the word spread, villagers from Yerragottahalli, Chintamani taluk stopped another vehicle with six people and charred the travellers to death, giving them no chance to escape.

The four people who were lynched belong to Anantpur district, Andhra Pradesh.

Fearing police action, many villagers have fled the village after the police surrounded the village. At least 38 people have been held by the cops.
