Delhi police turns down Anna Hazare, "No Fast" on Aug 16

Anna Hazare
New Delhi, Jul 29: It seems that the entire efforts for a successful Lokpal Bill carried on by the Anna team for past few months has gone in vain. The Anna team who had decided to go for an indefinite fast from August 16 over the "fractured" Lokpal Bill has been denied permission by the Delhi Police.

The Delhi police are following the Supreme Court's 2009 order. This denial of granting permission to the Anna team for another fast by the Delhi police have put the "hunger strike" on hold. Anna Hazare's decision to go on a fast from Aug 16 at Jantar Mantar would have highlighted their anger and fight over the current Lokpal bill.

Anna Hazare on Thursday, Jul 28 highly "disappointed" over the present Lokpal bill that has been approved by the cabinet, termed it as "fractued and unhealthy". “This Lokpal Bill is a joke played on the nation … the govt has betrayed the nation. We will fight tooth and nail for it," asserted Anna.

Team Anna rubbishing the draft said that "the current Lokpal bill is not in favour of the common man." It has been criticised that the bill will achieve nothing.
