Mayawati announces Rs 1 lakh to victims of hailstorm, squall

Lucknow, May 23: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Sunday, May 22, directed officials to provide Rs one lakh each to the kin of those persons killed in natural calamities in the state.

"During a high-level meeting held on Sunday morning, May 22, the CM while expressing grief over deaths during natural calamities, directed the officials to ensure Rs one lakh in ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased," an official spokesman said here.

Mayawati also directed the district magistrates and chief medical officers to ensure proper medical facility to those injured in dust storm and other calamities.

She said that all facilities should be provided to the people whose houses have been damaged and directed them to restore power supply in affected areas.

More than 70 people had been killed in different districts of UP hit by dust storm and squall in the last two days.
