Justice after a decade: SC grants bail to Binayak Sen

The Supreme Court claimed, "Naxal sympathy can not be a proof" against Binayak Sen and the guilt is yet to be proven.
A professional doctor and a pass-out of the prestigious Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, Sen had sought bail contending that the trial court has erred in convicting him when there was no substantial evidence.
Opposing Sen's bail plea, the Chhattisgarh government in its affidavit had earlier said that the activist should not be granted any relief as he has deep links with hardcore Naxalites.
Sen, vice-president of People's Union of Civil Liberties, was convicted for sedition and sentenced to life imprisonment along with Naxal ideologue Narayan Sanyal and Kolkata businessman Piyush Guha for colluding with the Maoists to establish a network to fight the state.
Today (Friday, Apr 15) is Bengali new year and on this auspicious day, Sen's bail appeared as a new year gift for him and for his family.
