2G drama continues: How Anil Ambani tackles PAC grilling?
The PAC officials led by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi questioned Mr Ambani on Tuesday, Apr 5. Sources reported that Mr Ambani tactfully avoided PAC's questions and also claimed that it's tough for him to answer any questions on the 2G spectrum scam now since the matter is sub-judice and is being heard by the Supreme Court.
Sources also informed that the investigating committee also questioned the Reliance chief over his companies deals with Swan Telecom, which is an accused company in the second generation spectrum scandal. Mr Anil Ambani also got a chance to clarify his stand and opinion on the whole spectrum scam.
CBI has already charge-sheeted against former telecom minister and the main accused of the 2G scam - A Raja including some major Reliance officials - Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara.
The PAC on Monday, Apr 4 questioned Tata group's chairman Ratan Tata and corporate lobbyist Niira Radia. While stating about Radia's tapped phone conversations with politicians, corporates, bureaucrats, and journalists regarding the 2G case, an official of PAC informed, "She (Radia) told us that some tapes are genuine while others are doctored."
Sources also informed that Ratan Tata was questioned about Tata group's launching of GSM mobile services when it was already a key player in the CDMA technology for such services. Mr Ratan Tata was also quizzed over his company's roles with journalists in paid news.
The CBI also submitted their investigation report where they charge-sheeted against former telecom minister A Raja; Shahid Usman Balwa, promoter of Swan Telecom; Vinod Goenka, a Director of Swan Telecom Pvt Ltd; Sanjay Chandra, Chairman of Unitech Wireless Ltd.
