TRS appeals people to participate in March 1 protests

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (PTI) TRS today appealed to the peopleof Telangana to make the proposed ''rail roko'' in support ofthe separate statehood demand on March 1 a grand success.

TRS floor leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly ERajender urged people all over the region to come to therailway tracks on March 1 and send across a message to theCentre on the Telangana demand.

TRS MLAs and MLCs would oversee the arrangements for therail blockade programme, named ''Palle Palle Pattala Paiki''(villages on railway tracks), tomorrow and the leaders ofother parties should also participate in the programme, hesaid.

Intensifying the pro-Telangana agitation, the Telanganapolitical Joint Action Committee (JAC), that comprises TRS,BJP and a number of people''s organisations, have called fortrain blockades on March 1.

TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has yesterday announcedthat a massive ''Chalo Hyderabad'' rally would be organised onMarch 10.

Christened ''million march to Hyderabad'', the programmewould see lakhs of people coming to Hyderabad and not a soulwould be able to move around in the city on that day, he said.

However, the JAC indicated that the programme may berescheduled in view of the year-end examinations of theintermediate students.

Meanwhile, JAC convener M Kodandaram met Congress RajyaSabha member K Keshav Rao today at his residence to urge himto see that a quick decision is taken by the Centre on theTelangana issue.
