Indore pharma company raided after death of 12 women in Raj

Indore, Feb 25 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh health officialstoday raided a drug company here in connection with the deathof 12 pregnant women, who were administered intravenous fluidat a government hospital in Jodhpur.

"A four-member team of inspectors conducted the raids atthe production unit of Indore-based Parental Drugs IndiaLimited and seized some bottles of intravenous fluids relatedto the batch that is believed to have caused the deaths inJodhpur," Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Public HealthMahendra Hardia told PTI here.

He said the team also took samples of the concerning drugwhich will be sent to a laboratory for test.

"We are serious in the matter and no irregularity will betolerated," Hardia said.

"We were waiting for a departmental inquiry report inthis case," he said adding that action will be taken againstthe drug company if it is found guilty.

Twelve pregnant women have died and four others arebattling for their lives in Jodhpur after they were allegedlyadministered contaminated intravenous fluids.
