AIADMK collects over Rs 12 crore from sale of applications

Chennai, Feb 24 (PTI) The AIADMK has collected over Rs 12crore from sale of applications to party cadre seekingto contest the coming Assembly elections from Tamil Nadu,Kerala and Puducherry.

A total of 1,503 applicants have appealed to AIADMK chiefJayalalithaa to contest from their constituency and expressedtheir willingness in this regard, a party release here said.

At the end of submission of applications that ended onWednesday, 10,553 persons had applied to contest fromdifferent constituencies in Tamil Nadu. Over 181 persons hadapplied for Puducherry while 31 for Kerala. The elections forthe three states are due in May.

The sale of applications fetched the party Rs 12.14 crore,the release added.
