Special three-hour drive to check crimes in UP; 860 arrested

Lucknow, Feb 22 (PTI) Over 860 people involved in variouscrimes were arrested in Uttar Pradesh today during a specialthree-hour vehicle drive launched across the state to keep acheck on criminal activities in the state.

"A special three-hour vehicle drive was launchedyesterday from 11 PM to 2 PM in which 19,718 vehicles werechecked and 860 persons, including 31 wanted in various crimeswere arrested," Special DG Law and Order Brijlal toldreporters here.

In the drive, two rifles, ten country-made pistols,cartridges, two kgs of charas, 550 litres of liquor and otherobjectionable items were recovered, he said, adding that 896FIRs were also registered.
