U.S. Ambassador To India Sergio Gor Celebrates 250 Years Of American Freedom In Chennai

U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor celebrated 250 years of American independence as the Guest of Honor at U.S. Consulate General Chennai's June 22 National Day event.

Ambassador Gor said, "Our consulate in Chennai, our embassy in Delhi, and every American here who works for the United States government is willing to work with every single individual here and across the entire country. Our embassy is open for business, and we want to work with you and take this relationship to the next level."

U.S. Consul General Chennai Mariana L. Neisuler and Tamil Nadu Minister for Public Works and Sports Development Aadhav Arjuna highlighted the depth of the U.S.-India relationship and potential for even stronger cooperation in strategic technologies, engineering, and sports.

The evening featured musical performances by the Brass Ensemble of A. R. Rahman Foundation's Sunshine Orchestra. Alisha Mathew Thayil performed the American and Indian national anthems.

The celebration also featured the unveiling of a Space Experiential Learning Center, which will be permanently housed and open to the public at the American Center in Chennai starting next month.

The iconic Ripon Building in Chennai was lit in red, white, and blue in honor of America's milestone birthday.
