Kripashankar Singh misused position of Minister : PIL

Mumbai, Feb 18 (PTI) In a PIL alleging unaccountableassets owned by Mumbai Congress Chief Kripashankar Singh, thepetitioner today filed an affidavit in the Bombay High Courtalleging misuse of official position by Singh for personalbenefits and seeking a direction to Enforcement Directorate,Income Tax and Anti-corruption Bureau to widen scope of probe.

The affidavit alleged huge transactions in the bankaccount of Kripashankar''s daughter-in-law, misuse of powersby issuing 104 gun licences to a private security firm inMumbai during his tenure as minister of state for home inMaharashtra, false declaration of educational qualificationsby him and illegal formation of a housing society.

The PIL, filed by Sanjay Tiwari, would come up forhearing on March 3 before a bench headed by Chief JusticeMohit Shah. The affidavit would also be heard on the same day.

The PIL had linked Kripashankar to the multi-croreMadhu Koda scandal and demanded a probe into his"unaccountable" assets. The agencies had informed the courtthat they were already conducting a probe. However, the courtdecided to monitor investigations.

The petitioner had alleged that in 2006 Kripashankar wasAICC observer for Jharkhand and was instrumental in installingMadhu Koda government. The PIL alleged that Kripashankar''s sonSanjay is married to daughter of a minister in the then Koda''scabinet. Kripashankar''s name also surfaced in Koda''s diary asa beneficiary, it alleged.

The PIL also alleged that Kripashankar and his familymembers had multiple bank accounts and he himself has two PANcards. His wife too has two PAN cards, the petition allegedand listed a series of properties owned by the family.(More)PTI SVS DK
