Huge amount of ammonium nitrate seized in Umerga
Osmanabad, Feb 15 (PTI) The police today seized 8640 kgof ammonium nitrate and 1800 sticks of gelatin, worth Rs fivelakh, stored illegally in a godown in the MIDC (MaharashtraIndustrial Development Corporation) area of the Umerga tehsilof the district.
Police sources said that these materials are generallyused for blasting at the wells and the stone quarries. Theywere stocked in a room without permission.
Ammonium nitrate is used in explosive devices too.
Police have detained three people, who hail from theBhilwada district of Rajasthan, identified as DevilalMeghwanshi, Kanhayyalal Daroga and Rmalal Gurjar, in thisconnection.
They were trying to sell the material to locals, policesaid.
Police said that case has been registered with the Umergapolice and further investigations would reveal for whatpurpose the consignment was stocked.
