BJP wants JPC probe in 2G, CWG projects, Adarsh housing scams

Kolkata, Jan 15 (PTI) Amid indications that thegovernment might agree to a JPC probe in the 2G spectrum scam,the BJP today said bunglings in CWG projects and Adarshhousing too should be brought under the panel''s ambit.

"We demand a JPC not only for probing specifically the2G scam, but the whole issue of corruption," BJP spokespersonNirmala Sitharaman told newspersons here after a meeting ofthe party''s national office-bearers.

Making a strong demand for a Joint ParliamentaryCommittee probe into corruption allegations in theCommonwealth Games projects, 2G spectrum allocation and theAdarsh Housing Society, BJP had led the Opposition attackagainst the government in Parliament during the WinterSession, which was a washout.

"A JPC is necessary to probe all corruption charges,"Sitharaman said, alleging that the UPA government was mired incorruption.

She said the meeting, attended by L K Advani, NitinGadkari and Arun Jaitley among others, discussed the issue ofcorruption at length and felt that in spite of steps by theCBI in some cases, corruption continued unabated.

The meeting also discussed the issue of black moneystashed in foreign banks and described as "half-hearted" thegovernment''s efforts to bring it back, she said.

She said the Prime Minister should answer why India wasnot signing the UN Charter on Corruption, which could havemade it easier to get information from different countriesabout the ill-gotten money alleged to have been stashed. PTIAMR MD SMI
