JKLF supporters clash with police in Lal Chowk
Srinagar, Feb 11 (PTI) Two policemen were injured whenJKLF supporters clashed with security men in Lal Chowk area ofthe city after Friday prayers demanding handing over of mortalremains of JKLF founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat.
The youths started raising slogans after prayers atMaisuma, which houses the headquarters of JKLF. They weredemanding return of mortal remains of Bhat who was sent to thegallows on February 11, 1984 for the murder of a CID inspectorand buried in Tihar prisons complex, officials said.
The police personnel posted on duty in the area usedbatons to disperse the youths who indulged in stone pelting,they said.
Constables Abdul Hamid and Ghulam Qadir suffered headinjuries in the stone pelting and were taken to policehospital for treatment.
Additional forces were rushed to the area and theprotesters were chased away, the officials said.
