PSPCL signs MoU with GVK Group to enhance power plant capacity

Patiala, Feb 3 (PTI) Punjab State Power CorporationLimited (PSPCL) today signed an MoU with GVK Group to enhancethe capacity of upcoming coal-based Goindwal Sahib ThermalPower in Tarntaran from 540 MW plant to 1,860 MW.

Stating this PSPCL CMD, K D Chaudhri said that theadditional land required for extension would be only 150 to170 acres and the Phase II of 1,320 MW will be set up at thesame place where Phase-I of 540 MW is under construction now.

He said that the plant will get water from river Beas andCoal for Phase-II shall be arranged by developer.

Supercritical Technology will be used in plant, which issuper efficient and low emission and the chimneys will be 270metres in height so as to minimise pollution.

GVK group is in advance stage of implementing the phase-Iproject along with the captive coal mine at Tokisud inJharkhand.
