Mother, three daughters die of burns in Bengal village
Canning(WB), Feb 2 (PTI) A mother and her three daughtersdied of burns when fire spread from a kerosene lamp andengulfed their temporary structure at Kotrakhali village inBasanti of South 24 Parganas district last night.
Police said Bharati Sarkar (28) and her two daughters,Kabita(8) and Dolon (3 months) were charred to death when thefire, suspected to have been caused by a kerosene lamp, spreadto the temporary structure with roofs made of leaves andpolythene sheets.
Another daughter, Kamika (5), who got severe burns wastaken to Canning sub divisional hospital where she died thismorning, the police said.
Bharati''s husband is away in Digha employed in a fishingtrawler. The owner of the trawler has been informed by thevillagers.
The family was affected by the Aila in 2009 and had losttheir home in that cyclone.
State minister Subhas Naskar and workers of RSP andTrinamool Congress visited the spot today.
