PM Modi Addresses NDA Leaders After Becoming India's Longest-Serving Elected Prime Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at a special meeting in Delhi after becoming India's longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister. The gathering was organised to mark both the completion of 12 years of the NDA government and Modi's historic tenure in office.

Addressing NDA leaders, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the honour and reflected on his long political journey.

PM Modi Calls It A Memorable Day

Speaking at the conclave, Modi thanked NDA leaders and allies for their support, saying the occasion held special significance for him.

"You have all made this day truly memorable for me. I am overwhelmed and deeply grateful. Chanting the mantra of Chareveti, Chareveti (keep moving forward) and witnessing numerous ups and downs in this political journey, I had never imagined that this milestone would one day be reached," he said.

The Prime Minister added that he considered it a privilege to have served the country continuously for such a long period.

"I consider it my supreme privilege to have had the opportunity to serve continuously as an elected Prime Minister for the longest tenure," Modi said.

Historic Milestone For PM Modi

Earlier in the day, Narendra Modi officially surpassed the record of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to become the country's longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister.

Modi completed 4,399 consecutive days in office on Wednesday. He first assumed office on May 26, 2014, after the BJP-led NDA secured a decisive mandate in the general elections. He was re-elected in 2019 and returned for a third consecutive term in 2024.

The milestone was celebrated across the NDA, with several senior leaders, Union ministers and alliance partners congratulating the Prime Minister on the achievement.

NDA Leaders Gather In Delhi

The NDA meeting was attended by top BJP leadership and alliance partners from across the country. Senior leaders used the occasion to highlight the coalition government's achievements over the past 12 years and reaffirm their commitment to the vision of a developed India.
