Delhi HC orders action against illegal industrial units
New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) The Delhi High Court todaydirected the city government to launch prosecution against thepeople who have been running industrial units illegally in thebordering area of Delhi-Haryana causing pollution in theresidential locality.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and JusticeSanjiv Khanna also directed the concerned departments of thecity government to demolish the structures erected by theowners of such illegal activities in various places.
The bench sought an affidavit from the government witha detail about the steps taken by it to stop functioning ofsuch illegal industries, in compliance with a Supreme Courtruling in 2004.
The bench''s order came after amicus curiae V K Rao andadvocate Saket Sikri submitted that despite the SupremeCourt direction polluted industries were running illegally onthe agricultural land and the government has failed to takeaction against them.
The court was hearing a PIL seeking direction to thegovernment for compliance of the apex court''s guidelines andshifting of polluting industries from the residential area assome industries in Nangloi and Tikri area are continuing tofunction.
