Cultural theatre to have a facelift
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 25 (PTI) Tagore Theatre, one of theprestigious cultural centres located in the heart of the city,is all set to have a facelift with the renovation worksestimatated to cost Rs 11.37 crores begining here today.
Kerala Chief Minister V S Achutanandan inaugurated themodernisation works.
Speaking on the occassion, Achutanandan said the main aimof the project was to make the centre one of the mostattractive cultural venues in the state capital to hostvarious events.
"The renovated complex will have a state-of-art stage, airconditioned halls, dynamic lighting arrangements and parkingfacility. The greenary and open space of the complex will bepreserved while taking up the development works," he said.
Modern pathways and mural paintings on the compound wallswould be an added attraction of the complex, he said.
State Minister for Public Works Department M Vijayakumar,Cultural Affairs Minisetr M A Baby, Minister for TransportJose Thettayil, city mayor K Chandrika also participated inthe function.
