Maha Governor condoles death of Bhimsen Joshi
Mumbai, Jan 24 (PTI) Maharashtra Governor KSankaranarayanan described Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshias a ''celestial phenomenon'' to have happened to the world ofHindustani classical music.
Expressing grief over the demise of the legendaryvocalist, the Governor said, "It was indeed the collectivegood fortune of the present generation and the recent pastgenerations that they lived in the same era in which Pt.
Bhimsen lived and sung. He was the undisputed emperor of theHindustani Classical Music and of the Kirana Gharana, and theworld of music will never be the same again."
"Pt. Bhimsen Joshi was an innovator and a pioneer. Theefforts he put in to attain supreme command over the notes,the depth of his voice and his style of rendition of the''Khyal'' made him immensely popular among the connoisseurs ofclassical music across the continent," the Governor said.
