PDP demands on-the-spot recruitment across Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 16 (PTI) Opposition Peoples DemocraticParty today staged a demonstration in Srinagar demanding aspecial on-the-spot recruitment drive for the youth in thecity.

The protestors, led by the PDP district presidentMohammad Ashraf Mir and Asiya Naqash, marched from MaulanaAzad Road to Lal Chowk, demanding a recruitment drive acrossthe city on the pattern of the drive held last week in oldcity''s Khanyar locality.

A special recruitment drive in the police department washeld last week at Khanyar, in which youth participated inlarge numbers.

Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda had shortlisted136 youth for the post of constables in the department.

The drive was, however, restricted for the youth hailingfrom areas falling under the jurisdiction of police stationKhanyar.

The PDP called for "transparency and fairness" in theselection process and demanded wide publicity to the date andvenue for any such recruitment drive in future.
