Kidnapped headmaster rescued

Tamluk (WB), Jan 14 (PTI) The headmaster of a school,who was kidnapped for ransom two days ago, was rescued andeight abductors were arrested from a lodge of the sea resorttown of Digha in East Midnapore district late last night, thepolice said today.

Sanat Tripathi, headmaster of a Kolaghat based school,was kidnapped when he was coming to school on Wednesday. Whenhe did not return home, his family lodged a missing diary.

Later, he rang up home from his mobile phone sayinghis kidnappers demanded Rs 31 lakh as ransom and if it was notpaid, he would be killed, the sources said.

The mobile, which was tracked at Kharagpur, wasswitched off after making the ransom call.

Later, when it was switched on again, it was trackedat Digha.

Following investigation, Tripathi was rescued andeight persons were arrested from a lodge there late lastnight.

While the headmaster was sent home, the kidnapperswere being interrogated, the sources said.
