Kanchi seer blames politics for standoff over Ayodhya dispute

Kancheepuram, Jan 13 (PTI) Kanchi Sankaracharya JayendraSaraswaathi, who is holding talks with litigants in theRamjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case, today blamed "pressure ofpolitics" for the stand-off.

The Hindus as well as Muslims want to settle thedispute, but "it is because of the pressure of politics thatthey move away from this intention," the seer, who recentlyvisited Ayodhya to hold talks with various parties, toldreporters here.

"Everyone individually seemed amenable to settle theissue peacefully, but change their minds after they get backto their own places... Just when things were movingsatisfactorily, the issue was taken to the Supreme Court," headded.
