ACB nabs Asst Director of mines in Vizag

Hyderabad, Jan 13 (PTI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB)officials of Andhra Pradesh today trapped S Venkata RamanaRao, Assistant Director, Mines and Geology of Anakapalli inVisakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh while takingRs 20,000 as bribe.

According to a ACB release here, Rao demanded the amountfrom a complainant for processing an application of thecomplainant''s relative to the Deputy Director of Mines andGeology to seek his approval and issue orders for execution ofquarry lease.

In an another case, the ACB officials arrested M Ravi, aSenior Accountant in the District Treasury at Machilipatnam inKrishna district after he was caught red-handed while takingRs 1500 as bribe from a complainant late last night.

Further investigations were on in both the cases.
