New York Times editor: Readers don't look at cost
New York, Nov.12 (ANI): New York Times subscribers may want "All the News that's Fit to Print," but they aren't concerned with the fine print on their bill, according to one of the paper's top editors.
Times assistant managing editor Gerald Marzorati said readers didn't seem to notice when their subscription prices went up.
"We have north of 800,000 subscribers paying north of 700 dollars a year for home delivery," Marzorati pointed out during a panel discussion Wednesday, according to Forbes.
He added: "Of course, they don't seem to know that."
According to Politico, Marzorati went on to say that the paper had not suffered much of a loss in subscribers when it raised its prices five percent during a recession.
"I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they're literally not understanding what they're paying. That's the beauty of the credit card," he said.arzorati made the comment during the Digital Hollywood New York conference in New York City.
MySpace CMO Shawn Gold moderated the panel. (ANI)
