Ahmadinejad creates panel to prove US hand behind 9/11 attacks

Beirut (Lebanon), Oct 14(ANI): Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has created a panel to prove that the United States government was behind the 9/11 attacks.

"I announce that the formation of an independent and neutral team to examine the facts and discover the truth of the September 11 events is the demand of all the peoples of the region and the world," the New York Daily News quoted Ahmadinejad, as saying.

The President, on a visit to Lebanon, also toured Shia Muslim strongholds of south Beirut, where he was welcomed by thousands of supporters chanting "Death to America" and "Death to Israel".

Ahmadinejad has, several times, in the past argued that the September 11, 2001 attacks were staged by the US to protect Israel.

Earlier, during September's week-long UN diplomatic marathon at its New York headquarters, Ahmadinejad had said that the US government had orchestrated it to provide a pretext to reverse its declining grip on the Middle East.

At that time, the US had denounced his remarks, as "abhorrent and delusional". (ANI)
