Delhi-Lucknow Highway To Get Speed Cameras Between Dasna And Hapur, E-Challans Soon

The vehicles moving on the Dasna-Hapur stretch on the Delhi-Lucknow National highway (NH-09) will have to be more careful about speeding from now onwards. The NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) is planning to add speed cameras on the route to avoid accidents.

The proposal has been approved by NHAI, and officials are expected to install the cameras by September or October. Once the cameras will be planted any vehicle which will cross the speed limit will immediately get e-challan on their phones.

Why is NHAI installing these cameras?

The main reason of NHAI installing these cameras is that Dasna-Hapur stretch is actually one of the busiest part of Delhi-Lucknow highway. Multiple cars, buses, and trucks crosses this stretch on daily basis.

The highway was extended to six lanes in 2019, making commuting easy for vehicles, however it becomes another reason for vehicles to drive faster because of the spacing, although it's turning into accidents more.

The speed limit on this road:

• Light vehicles (cars, SUVs, bikes): 100 kmph
• Heavy vehicles (trucks and buses): 80 kmph

According to the highway officials many vehicles crosses that limit on daily basis because of no feat of automatic speed monitoring.

Where will the cameras be installed?

The authority is planning to install three cameras of overspeed on the Dasna-Hapur stretch.

The places are likely to be:

• Near the Dasna entry point
• Near Saraswati College
• Near Nizampur, close to Hapur

The cameras will be connected to the Chhijarsi toll plaza control system.

How will the e-challan system work?

Once the cameras will be installed they will automatically check the speed of vehicles passing the stretch.

If a vehicle is found crossing the speed limit, the cameras will work following:

• Capture the vehicle's number plate.
• Record the speed.
• Generate an e-challan automatically.
• Send the challan details to the registered mobile number of the vehicle owner.

NHAI has started preparation

NAHI Ghaziabad respresentative Amit Sharma said that the proposal of installing the cameras have already been passed, now they are waiting for financial approval.

However, the authority has already started the foundation work showing that the camera installing intiative has already been processed.
