After unrest violence, JK returns to normal life

Srinagar, Oct 2: After the unrest violence in the Valley, situation in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, Oct 2 returned to peaceful atmosphere, as curfew was lifted from the entire Valley and the Separatist group exempted the day from its schedule of protests and strikes.

Sources said shops, business establishments and private offices were opened in the morning while public transport ply on all routes of the Valley.

However, schools and government offices remained closed on account of Gandhi Jayanti.

Hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani said he has decided to withdraw the scheduled protest so that people of the Valley get some relief.

Kashmir Valley has been in a grip of violent protests since Jun 11 when a 17-year-old boy was killed during clashes at Rajouri Kadal in interior city.
