Goa: 3 prisoners flee through jail toilet

Panaji, Aug 4: Three prisoners fled by digging a whole in the cell toilet in Goa jail on Wednesday, Aug 4.

Undertrial Abhijit Patil and convicts Hitler Fernandes and Seby Ferrao escaped from the Sada sub jail at Vasco, 35 km from Panaji.

"They escaped by drilling a hole in their cell toilet," said a jail authority.

He said that Fernandes, 46, was convicted for two murders in Goa and Karnataka.

Incidentally, he was one of the convicts who was recommended to be released by the prisoner sentence review committee.

Four jail staffs, including two officers, were suspended.
