Psychic Paul is now honourary citizen of Spain

Oberhausen, Jul 23: Royal treatment for the eight legged oracle, Paul, continues as a honourary citizenship has been now awarded to him by Spain.

The mayor of Spain's Carballino, Carlos Montes travelled to Germany to award him the honorary citizenship. At the Sea Life aquarium here, Montes presented Paul with a silver plaque and a replica statue of its best-known cephalopod.

The psychic Octopus has turned into a darling for the Spaniards after he not only predicted the country's victory in the semi-finals against Germany but also for foreseeing Spain's victory in the FIFA World Cup 2010 final against Netherlands.

On the interaction with the seer, a Spanish spokesperson said, “He was very trusting and enjoyed being stroked."

The northwestern Spanish town has also invited Paul to take part in a large octopus celebration in Aug.

However, Paul, who has received several lucrative offers from across the globe, does not seem too interested in leaving his home town.
